Ripoll Council is only interested in Catalan-speaking tourists

No translations at all here, not even for Spanish-speaking residents. That Ripoll's romanesque is of international renown is not of the slightest interest to the peasant ethnocrats in charge of the town and its tourism.

You could say the same of where I live. It's one of, if not the most visited 'white villages' of Andalucia with a permanent foreign population of over 25%.

small towns finances are not that great so this may explain why this website is not in English etc How many comparable towns in England for example would offer their internet pages in French or German??... On the other hand, I find your comment about PEASANTS of doubtful taste

Tourists to England mostly speak English. How many French, non-Catalan Spanish, German, Dutch or English visitors to Ripoll speak Catalan?

"Peasants" was definitely used as a term of abuse. Ripoll is one of the unfriendliest places I've been to, but technically speaking its inhabitants are post-industrial xenophobic scum.

The funniest bit is that they create the impression that other-language versions of their tourism non-content exist, but the buttons don't work: http://www.ripoll.cat/turisme/
